Driven to Succeed

Mark walked into Edge’s doors, determined to become a Bus Driver. He knew his employment goal was clear, but he wanted assistance and support to make his dream a reality. The Edge team and Mark worked together on a career plan and mapped out a path for Mark to achieve his employment dream.

Equipped with his bus license, the Edge team assisted Mark in interview preparation and set about finding a supportive workplace. That workplace was found at Buswest. Mark nailed the job interview and was overjoyed to receive a job offer for a School Bus Driver.

Since beginning his role, Mark’s confidence and skills have continued to grow, so much so that he has been offered an opportunity to upskill. This further training will allow Mark to drive buses on their charter fleet and buses with wheelchair access.

Edge Job Coach Teresa has supported Mark throughout his employment journey, sharing, “Mark has been given a great opportunity to upskill, which is a testament to his reliability and great work. This training will also mean Mark can continue earning money over the long summer school holidays as he can now continue to work when the school runs are not required.”

Expressing his gratitude for the role and the team at Buswest, Mark shared, “I enjoy my job a lot; I make sure the children get to and from school safely, which is rewarding. My confidence has really gone up, and I love talking to the children daily.

My supervisor, Mary, and my colleagues have been very supportive and kind, I feel valued and appreciated. Edge has also helped me increase my confidence and encouraged me to continue building my skills.”
