McCusker Centre for Citizenship

The McCusker Centre for Citizenship at UWA (established in October 2015) is the first of its kind in Australia, modelled on the Haas Centre for Public Service at Stanford University. The Centre aims to foster the engagement of students in a lifelong involvement and contribution to the community. Edge works alongside the centre and takes on interns with an interest in community development.

The Centre works on:

  • Creating opportunities for students to contribute to the work of not for profit organisations in WA
  • Expand the involvement of not for profit organisations in the University through service learning and research
  • Provide leadership and mentoring programs in partnership with the not for profit sector
  • Facilitate collaboration, discussion and practical solutions to contemporary challenges by engaging students, academics, alumni, not for profit (NFP) organisations and businesses

Ticket to Work – A National Initiative

In Australia, young people with disability are more likely to drop out of school early, be excluded from the labour force, have fewer educational qualifications, experience poverty and be socially isolated. Edge is proud to work alongside Ticket to Work in creating employment opportunities for young people with disability.

For more information, please see the Ticket to Work website.
