Oshay’s Path to Purpose

Oshay’s journey is a powerful example of how the right support can transform a person’s life. With the support of Aaron, his Edge NDIS Employment Support Coach, Oshay gained the skills and confidence he needed to secure a job and thrive as a Nursery Hand.

Before this opportunity, Oshay struggled to find motivation. “I feel good, as it gives me something to do each day,” he said, reflecting on how his job has reignited his drive. I have more motivation now with work, to get up each day and go to a job I enjoy. I now go to sleep early.”

His role has provided him with a renewed sense of purpose and accomplishment. “It feels like I’m achieving something.”

Through our SLES program, Oshay has developed valuable skills, including improving his communication and confidence, as well as learning practical tools such as using a calendar to set reminders. “They have helped me increase my communication, confidence and obtaining new skills and structure. Also, to help explain the things I have done during the session, my resume, cover letter and scripts to help use when talking to businesses either face to face or over the phone.”

Joanne, the owner of Native Spirit Nursery, has appreciated Oshay’s dedication and hard work. “Oshay is a great worker; he even came in on the weekend to work extra when asked,” she says.

Oshay is also grateful for the kindness and generosity he experiences at work. They look after me, especially with food and drinks (water and juice), to ensure we are fed each day.”

Oshay is thankful for the opportunity and confidence he has gained. “Edge has made me feel comfortable, relaxed, and supported,” he says, reflecting on the life-changing impact of the support he’s received. For Oshay, his job is more than just a pay check; it’s a source of purpose, self-esteem, and motivation.
